Can Morris dancing be part of your fitness regime?

By Linden Jones in Local People

MORRIS dancers have been out and about all season, but with the cold dark evenings approaching it is time to go inside to prepare for the future.

Most Thursday evenings Trigg Morris Men will be dancing somewhere, during the Summer at places as far apart as Leatherhead and Lostwithiel and many places in between, but during the winter it is practice time when those who would like to give it a try are invited to come to see if it is for them.

Morris can be an energetic activity, so it can be a significant part of your exercise and fitness regime. It can be an interesting alternative to your other team sports and pastimes, and in the same way usually finishes with some social activity on licensed premises!

In the winter the club meets in Bodmin, although membership is widespread with some members travelling up to 25 miles to be part of the action. New members would be very welcome to give Morris Dancing in the Trigg style a try, whether experienced dancer or complete novice.

There is a lot of information to be found on the website www.triggmorris.co.uk and the Facebook page that will give you more of an idea about what the side does, and if you want to try it out for yourself, either make contact, or just turn up at the BCA Rooms at Mount Folly, Bodmin, PL31 2DB at 8pm where practice takes place on most Thursdays in October and November.

So, get along and give it a go!
