Callywith College in Bodmin appoints two new Assistant Principals

TWO new members of staff have been appointed to the Senior Management Team of the new post-16 Callywith College, which opens in Bodmin in September 2017.

Truro and Penwith College staff Jon Grey and Lucy Maggs will join Callywith Principal Designate Mark Wardle as the College’s new Assistant Principals.

Mark said: “I am delighted that Jon and Lucy have been appointed to the Callywith College Senior Management Team. Their Assistant Principal roles are vital to ensuring our students have an outstanding experience. Both Jon and Lucy have worked at Truro and Penwith College for several years in teaching, management and support roles and they played a key role in the college achieving Ofsted Outstanding status in 2016. Their experience will ensure we can deliver our mission of delivering the Truro and Penwith College experience closer to students living in north and east Cornwall.”

Jon, who is currently Programme Team Leader for Science at Truro College and also leads on the College’s Medics’ Academy, will lead on teaching and learning at Callywith College ensuring that all students receive the highest quality of teaching and that the subject specialists delivering the College’s courses are given the best possible environment to help students achieve outstanding results.

Lucy, who has also been appointed as one of the College’s Assistant Principals and is currently the Programme Team Leader for Student Services at Truro and Penwith College, will lead on the Callywith College student experience ensuring students receive the best possible support at the College.

During her employment at Truro and Penwith College, Lucy has taught Health and Social Care across A-level, Extended Diploma and Foundation Degree courses. She has also been Programme Team Leader for a wide curriculum area at the Penwith College site and has more recently managed the Student Services provision across Truro and Penwith College.

Callywith College is being opened in association with Ofsted Outstanding Truro and Penwith College and offers 27 A-Level courses and 16 Progression and Diploma options for 16-19 year olds combined with modern facilities, buildings and exceptional teaching staff.
