Egloshayle & Wadebridge Cottage Garden Society's 30th Spring Garden Show

By Chris Gill in Events

ON Saturday 25 March the sun shone and Spring came to Egloshayle village hall. Visitors were able to enjoy the beautiful display of Spring flowers. There were vases, pots and tubs of daffodils, narcissi, tulips, anemones, shrubs and hellebores.

Children and grown ups had been challenged to make exhibits which had a transport theme and had produced some very imaginative displays. Days Gone By and Into Space saw big floral arrangements with a snail shell, beer bottle, milk jug and basket being somewhat smaller.

Many of the junior and adult classes also had a transport theme and exhibits varied, from vehicles made from vegetables or Lego to handwritten poems, a boat collage and a space picture. The cookery judge tasted 15 chocolate sponges as well as other cakes and savoury items.

The President, Mr R Johns, chose a cross stitch of a robin as best in the show. Cup winners were Wayne Plant, Susan Plant, June Cole, Bo Gregson, Katie Hodges, Isabel Gregson, Jackie Constance, Pam Bullock, Eve Moss, Linda Simmonds, Reuben Allen and Vivienne Constance.

The show committee members are now looking forward to the Summer show on 29 July and would welcome anyone who would be interested in helping to stage it. Please call 01208 813767 for details of the next meeting.
