THE UK’s original beach polo event returns for its tenth anniversary with a packed programme of polo, beach activities and family entertainment and, as always, it’s free to attend.
Over 10,000 people are expected to visit Watergate Bay for Aspall Polo on the Beach this year, which sees over 20 ponies thundering across the beach competing in high-level polo matches, alongside three days of entertainment.
An Aspall cyder bar, Champagne Jacquart garden and Tarquin’s gin bar will be pitch- side along with a selection of street food vendors. There will be an Aspall Apple Zone, kids’ activities and Segway taster sessions throughout the day as well as a packed arena programme.
Polo matches will be played on both days at 6.30pm. Friday will see the return of Cornwall vs Rest of the World and Saturday will be the main Aspall Trophy polo match. During the day there will be Segway polo matches, polo demonstrations and on Saturday a dance performance from local dance groups and a jousting display from the Knights of Middle England. On Sunday there will be a family dog show open for all to enter from 10.30am.
After the polo on Friday, the entertainment will continue with live music and a fireworks display after sunset. Saturday will see the return of the sell-out Polo on the Beach party with three live bands including local musician Ruarri Joseph and his band William the Conqueror, the Andy Quick Band and explosive London six piece band, Molotov Jukebox. Tickets for the Saturday beach party are on sale online at £25pp: www.watergatebay.co.uk/polo
