‘LET’S celebrate’ was the name of the game on Thursday, 13 April when Inner Wheel members gathered to celebrate 63 years of the club in Bodmin, and what a great, fun evening it was.
This year the festivities went down a different route away from the traditional three course meal and speaker to a buffet, superbly presented by the Westberry Hotel, followed by a selection of party games from yesteryear. The competitive spirit was high as members took part in musical chairs, won by Di Hick, pass the parcel won by Sue Rilstone and pin the tail on the Easter Rabbit, won by Norah Nicholls. As to be expected there was a high degree of cheating but much laughter and fun enjoyed by everyone.
To add to the celebration, President Rosemary presented a potted plant to Maggie Halton for her Ruby anniversary, thanked Margaret Hammond for making a wonderful birthday cake decorated in the Inner Wheel colours of blue and gold and Sandy Melmoth for taking charge of the birthday gifts which were handed out at the end of the evening.
Pauline Gifford gave a vote of thanks to President Rosemary for all her hard work in making it such a wonderful birthday party with members coming together to remember the ladies of Bodmin who started the Club back in April 1954.
The club next meets on Thursday, 4 May at 6.45pm at the Westberry Hotel. If you’d like to know more about the club or become a member please telephone 01208 77118 for an informal chat.
