Trevose Golf Club's news round-up

ROBERT J Wyatt (known as Bob) has been appointed club captain at Trevose. His vice-captain will be Ross Oliver, who was Cornish wrestling champion for seven successive years, ran a plant hire company, built several golf courses and trained race horses until he retired.

Wyatt replaces Paul Haley, club captain last year. Haley relinquished his crown at the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 28 March where it was acknowledged he had done a splendid job, the highlight being raising £2068.10 on Captain’s Day for the Cove Macmillan Support Centre, located at Treliske Hospital, Truro.

1st David Lockwood 37 pts, 2nd Trevor Johnston 36 pts, 3rd Steve Curtis 36 pts.

Harlyn Cup, round 27

1st E (Billy) Lale 39 pts, 2nd Ben Crossley, 36 pts, 3rd Richard Johnson 36 pts.

Harlyn Cup Final Results

David Kneebone, the current Cornwall county captain, was declared the overall winner of the 29-weeks’ Harlyn Cup at Trevose (sponsored by West Country Investments) with 64 league points. Former county captain Charlie Phillips finished second on 58 points, with six-times county champion Ian Veale in third place on 57 points. Richard Johnson won the end-of-season Harlyn Cup on count-back from Max Haughton, with 38 Stableford points, 2nd Max Haughton 38 points and 3rd Charlie Phillips 37 pts.

Victoria Cup, round 28

1st Rudi Britz 39 points, 2nd Shaun Matthews 39 points, 3rd Julian Richards 38 points.

Geoff Wright Cup

James Miller shot 85 gross off 20 handicap to win club major, the Geoff Wright Cup at Trevose. F Jacobs was in second place on 70 net, and S Harvey took third with Joe Reynard fourth, after both tied on 71 net.
