A 24-hour sponsored spin has helped raise over £1,000 for a charity close to a Camelford woman’s heart. Kerry Burt from Delabole held a sponsored spin on Saturday 1 April to raise money for Cots for Tots, a charity that offers support and helps families stay close to their sick babies during difficult times.
The spin, which involved electronic bikes, took place at the Unit Gym located at Highfield Industrial Estate in Camelford.
Approximately 100 people turned out to show their support throughout the day whether it was having a go on the bikes in a scheduled slot, trying their luck with the raffle or tucking into a burger or hotdog at the charity barbecue.
Kerry set herself, and others who wanted to take part, the challenge of cycling for 24 hours straight. She said that the scheduled slots allowed people to come and have a go, and at midnight, there were five people still going.
The event alone raised £1,166, with £600-£700 in sponsors’ money still to be added to the sum.
The total Kerry has raised overall so far is just over £10,266 which she hopes will rise to £11,000 in the coming months.
