Boscastle pupils take part in Race for Life schools’ programme

By Linden Jones in Charity

BOSCASTLE School Association hosted a special event on the village football field on Sunday 9 April as part of Race for Life’s schools’ programme.

Around 70 youngsters and their families walked, jogged or ran distances of up to 5km around the village football field.

The event was well supported not only with the people taking part but also with those who baked cakes and looked after the stalls and the toy tombola.

A great family event for a worthy cause, all in aid of Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.

The Cancer Research UK charity provided resource kits for the school which included everything needed to stage the event as well as an assembly plan and top fundraising tips.

The School Association was proud to sponsor the event and it proved to be a real team effort and a great day out for parents, pupils and friends, all whilst raising money for a seriously good cause.

Schools across the UK are being invited to hold their own Race for Life events in aid of the charity. They can choose a day that fits with the term calendar and pick a distance which suits the age and abilities of all pupils.
