Motorcycle mayhem returns to the Royal Cornwall Show

By Linden Jones in Events

A MAIN ring act set to thrill the crowds at the 2017 Royal Cornwall Show, is one not for the faint-hearted.

The Bolddog Lings, Honda’s official UK freestyle motocross display team, will wow the 120,000 show-goers expected to attend the event with their death-defying stunts at Wadebridge on 8, 9 and 10 June.

The nationally acclaimed team boast the largest, highest landing ramp on the planet which enables the team to hurtle a distance of 75 feet and soaring up to 35 feet up in the air. “The riders can truly express themselves” according to team manager and one of the UK’s top freestyle riders in his own right, Dan Whitby.

Stunts performed high above the main ring will include freestyle motocross tricks such as the “superman seat grab”, “Indian air”, “heel-clicker”, “rock solid”, “double-nac”, “switch blade” and the “kiss of death”. Many of these moves see the riders exiting their seat, taking their hands off the handlebars and rotating their body around the bike.

The team will perform in front of three million people at over 40 events in the UK and overseas this year. The team also gained a legion of fans having previously reached the final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Describing the show, Dan said: “It’s more than just freestyle. It’s a non-stop show that will entertain everyone from off–road enthusiasts to the general public.”

Christopher Riddle, secretary of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association that organise the Royal Cornwall Show, is pleased to see the popular team return after last appearing at Wadebridge in 2014.

“The Bolddog Lings are real crowd pleasers and we are delighted to welcome them back to perform their fast-paced, breathtaking act once again at the Royal Cornwall Show this June.

“The show is renowned for the entertainment that can be found during the three days and this year is shaping up to continue that tradition, with something for everyone to enjoy.”
