WE are delighted to invite you to join us again at this popular event at our new home at the prestigious King Arthur’s Great Halls, Fore Street, Tintagel on Sunday 2 July.
King Arthur’s Great Halls is an atmospheric and historic building in the centre of Tintagel and legendary birthplace of King Arthur.
This unique venue, with its massive stone built hall, has a round table, granite thrones and 73 stained glass windows illustrating the Arthurian legend which was designed and crafted by Veronica Whall during 1930 – 33. The venue ranks highly in leading tourism guides as a stunning area of outstanding natural beauty.
The Halls were built in the 1930s by Frederick Thomas Glasscock as the home of the Order of the Fellowship of the Knights of the Round Table of King Arthur.
The Bear Festival will feature up to 50 stands with hundreds of teddy bears ranging from vintage and traditional to artist and designer bears, handcrafted by top national, international and local bear artists, with many from Cornwall and Devon. Local specialist bear shop, Urchins Bears from Tintagel, along with Kingswear Bears and Apple Pie House will have superb stocks of new well-known, international trademark bears, including Steiff and Charlie Bears, to woo and delight you. An extensive range of bear making kits, patterns, materials and accessories will be on offer from stands such as Bear Basics and BSB Bear Supplies, who also provide valuable practical advice on any bear-making related topic.
The fair will host a competition for “The Best Dressed Bear” with this year’s theme naturally being “King Arthur & Camelot”. The competition is open to all, so be sure to bring along your own bear. The winner will receive an engraved silver trophy and a bottle of champagne. Visitors have the opportunity to enter various prize draws for the chance to win some fantastic prizes. The prize draws will take place throughout the day and the best bear will be drawn at around 3.00pm
In addition, the fair will feature and support two charity stands: Cornwall Hospice Care, a leading independent Cornish charity which provides special care free of charge to patients with life limiting illnesses; and Animals Asia, who are devoted to ending animal cruelty and improving animal welfare throughout Asia.
The fair will take place between 10.30am and 3.30pm with an entrance fee of £1 for adults, and accompanied children under the age of 16 admitted for free. For more information: www.facebook.com/cornwallbearfestival2017 www.urchinsbears.com/shop/westcountry-2017-bear-fair/info_10.html
