Anneka Rice unveils plaque during Wadebridge Carnival celebrations

By Linden Jones in Events

ANNEKA Rice paid another visit to Wadebridge on carnival day, 29 July, to unveil a plaque which stated: This plaque celebrates Ada Martin and Diane Dingle, the first people to walk across ‘Anneka’s Challenge Bridge’. A bridge built with the help of the local community in 1991.

ITV’s This Morning is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first ever Challenge Anneka programme and they are making a short series on the milestone anniversary. The programme saw many community projects realised, including the footbridge over the Camel which was officially opened on 14 September 1991, dedicated to the memory of Dr Keith Bailey whose idea it was originally. Ada and Di were the instigators behind the Challenge Anneka project coming to Wadebridge.
